Rugby is a sport that is enjoyed all over the world, throughout the countries of the British Commonwealth in particular. It is a gruelling sport that involves 15 players on each side and is particularly fanatically supported in countries such as New Zealand and Wales where they see it as their main national sport. Due to the popularity of the sport, every four years there is a Rugby World Cup where all of the best teams in the world come to test themselves against each other in pursuit of the grandest prize of all.

The inaugural World Cup was held in 1987 down in Australia and New Zealand. New Zealand have always been the number one team in the world for long periods of time, and fittingly they were the first to win against France by a score of 29 points to 9 in the final.

Four years later the Rugby world cup came to Europe and was hosted by Great Britain throughout different stadiums in England, Ireland, and also France across the pond. For this tournament, a qualifying tournament was used to decide the final lineup of the 32 teams that were to compete. It’s estimated that there are more than a million bags that are lost by the airlines each year in the U.S. alone. How many get lost in the whole world is anyone’s guess. Here are a few tips that may help you recover your bags if they should they get lost.

Attach two or three tags with your name, home address, and phone number to the handle and the zipper-pulls of each bag that you are checking. There is less of a chance that all of the tags could get torn off during transit. You should make sure that you have removed any old airline tags that are still attached to the luggage you’re checking as they could confuse the baggage handlers.

Be sure to place the same contact information, including a copy of your itinerary and your destination address inside each piece luggage. That way, if they do get lost and are found in time, they could be forwarded to your hotel.  Read more...

Here are some of the things that I had learned whilst doing a gay Grand Canyon rafting trip. There is very knowledgeable staff that toured us down the river, but by some of the pictures and tid-bits I read a lot while staying for three days. The Canyon was formed by the Colorado River. It took nearly 17 million years to get the shape it has today.

With the steep cliffs that the water and wind had eroded away. It was one of the first national parks in the United States and was dedicated as such by Theodore Roosevelt on Nov. 28, 1906. Although the river is 286 miles long, ranging in width from 4 to 18 miles and is as deep as a mile, it is not the longest river in the world. Nor is it the widest.

Kali Gandaki in Nepal is deeper, while Capertu Valley in Australia is about 1 km. Longer. Nearly 5 million people go to visit the canyon per year which is why they now have enforced a law that requires anyone who has traveled down the river within a single year may only do it once. The Highlands of Scotland have been well known for their wars and betrayals and it is definitely accurate that from the reign of James IV in the 1490’s existence in the Highlands was somewhat tumultuous. In 1493, James went against the strong chiefs of the MacDonald Clan and forfeited the MacDonald Lord of the Isles in favour of himself and the Campbell Clan. Thus the Campbell’s took over as powerhouse at this time at the expense of the MacDonalds.

Issues came about not merely with the MacDonalds but also with several other Scottish clans because of this unhealthy power divide that the Campbells held over everyone else. The Campbell were in such a position that they could buy up readily available land and charge a kind of rent upon anybody who wanted to utilize the area for cows or sheep. The MacLeans were especially aggrieved Clan. As a sidenote here, the word Clan originates from the Gaelic word “clann” which actually signifies “children”.

It would seem to be this could mean that each person in the clan were closely associated but this was not necessarily so. Just the higher echelons of a specific clan were linked to the chiefs. Everyone else just considered the chief as the chief instead of as a relative as such.  Read more...

Many people wonder why they get charged one rate at a Super 8. airport hotels and another at a Hilton when they are using nothing more than a bed. If that is the case, they may be staying at the wrong type of hotel facilities and could use a little guidance as to what to expect based on the top of property that they are staying. Lodging comes in three different tiers and each one of them is meant to service a specific market.

The lowest level of amenities will be received at extended stay properties. These are properties that are strictly meant for longer stays that will not cost as much money as any other type of hotel or motel. The reason the rates are so low is because they do not usually offer the types of amenities that people would generally expect from a hotel.

It is a rare extended stay property that will have a rate anywhere near $100/night. The longer the guest is staying, the more likely that the rate will be lower.
