Whether you have taken air flights for business, or vacations and holidays, you may have lost luggage or know someone that has. Here are a few travel tips that can help you reduce this risk.

It’s estimated that there are more than a million bags that are lost by the airlines each year in the U.S. alone. How many get lost in the whole world is anyone’s guess. Here are a few tips that may help you recover your bags if they should they get lost.

Attach two or three tags with your name, home address, and phone number to the handle and the zipper-pulls of each bag that you are checking. There is less of a chance that all of the tags could get torn off during transit. You should make sure that you have removed any old airline tags that are still attached to the luggage you’re checking as they could confuse the baggage handlers.

Be sure to place the same contact information, including a copy of your itinerary and your destination address inside each piece luggage. That way, if they do get lost and are found in time, they could be forwarded to your hotel.

Pick luggage with preferably a bright or odd color that will stand out among all black and brown bags. Know which brand name of the luggage that you are using and attach a small colorful scarf or ribbon to the handle to make identification easier. Stick decals or a contrasting colored tape to each side of the bags so they are easier to find as it goes around the carousel. Remember these details, or better still, take a digital photo of your luggage just before you go and bring it with you. This will help the lost luggage staff at the airport locate your bags if they get lost in transit and turn up at their office. It will also help if you do have to make a claim.

It helps to make a list of what you have in your luggage and carry that list in you carry-on bag. The chance of your luggage getting lost in transit increases dramatically when you have connecting, or delayed flights. Always pack all of your valuables, including your laptop or Blackberry, travel documents, prescriptions, etc., in your carry-on bag. It makes sense to pack only the things you can afford to lose in your checked baggage. Most analysts believe that the airline industry’s problem of lost luggage is not going to be resolved anytime soon.

What should you do if the airlines lose your luggage?

Go immediately to the baggage claim office and file a claim. Many airlines have a twenty-four hour window of time starting from when your flight arrives to file and be eligible for compensation. You will receive a claim receipt to check the tracking of your luggage with the airline by phone, or on the airline’s website. Make sure you keep all your flight documents until the lost luggage problem is resolved.

How can you guarantee that the airlines won’t lose your luggage?

There are a number of companies that will send your luggage in the U.S., such as UPS, FedEx, or DHL, directly to your hotel or destination address for a reasonable cost. If you are staying in a hotel, your luggage will be brought to your room. When you consider that in the U.S. alone, well over a million bags are lost by the airlines every year, this service may be well worth considering. If you are traveling by air through Europe, FirstLuggage.com, has a similar service.

Marin County enjoys the distinction of being a rather aloof region. Situated to the north of the cosmopolitan epicenter of the Bay Area, San Francisco, the county of Marin is home to a number of moderately sized and quaint towns. Though none of these towns can compare with their larger Bay Area rivals in terms of panache, they far exceed their rivals when it comes to access to scenic beauty and any number of outdoor activities.

While it is the case that idyllic Sausalito and modest San Rafael, the county seat, have garnered the majority of the public’s attention, it seems one of the most overlooked portions of Marin County is unassuming Mill Valley. The occasional home to reclusive actors and musicians alike, this was — and still is to some extent — the haven for the extremely wealthy. This explains the relative dearth of Mill Valley hotels in the region.

The Mill Valley region has always boasted a robust outdoor menu of activity. This extends from hiking and sailing to hunting and fishing. At one point in its history, the Valley was home to a sanitarium, which took full advantage of its solitude and serenity. Now, you may need a stint in a sanitarium should you think real estate and housing are on par with the national average. A three bedroom rental in Mill Valley will cost you anywhere from $3,500 to $9,000 a month.

Once home to the peaceful Coast Miwok Native Americans for 12,000 years, the Valley is now home to an ethnically diverse, and politically left of center population. Have been host to a number of counter-culture celebrities, such as Jerry Garcia and jack Kerouac, Mill Valley has enjoyed a rather dubious distinction of being lampooned by former President George W. Bush, when he characterize the area as being populated by “misguided Marin County hot-tubbers.”

The majority of humanity can only hope to experience Mill Valley as tourists. The majority of permanent residents, as is the case with the majority of coastal California, are two or more generations removed from families that settled the Golden State when real estate was somewhat attainable. How does your average twenty or thirty-something managed to afford living in the region? Their parents had the foresight to buy a home when the buying was cheap, so to speak.

When reserving rooms in Mill Valley hotels, you must book well in advance, especailly in the summer and spring. Woe to the family that fails to book in advance.

Christmas Eve, the night before Christmas, is a very special time of year. Every year, around the world, children are “wide-eyed” in anticipation of all the gifts they will receive tomorrow morning. Did you know that Christmas Eve traditions differ in various countries around the world? Well they do. In this article we will be exploring the traditions of Christmas Eve in various countries around the world.

Santa and his elves have been working all year for this big night. Spanning the globe via sleigh and reindeer can have you working up quite an appetite. Children to the rescue. In both Canada and the United States, children leave some milk and cookies to feed Santa’s ferocious appetite. In Australia and Britain they prefer to leave mince pies and sherry. The children of Sweden want to satisfy Santa’s love of chocolate, so they leave brownies.

Sure, Santa needs refreshment, but what about his reindeer? Children love animals, and they are not about to forget Santa’s little helpers on the big night. Kids from Australia, Britain, Canada and the United States leave a carrot to give those reindeer an extra “boost of energy”. The children who follow the Dutch custom of sinterklass go a bit further…they also leave some hay with a carrot. Placed in a shoe before going to bed, it is replaced by a gift.

Another tradition that has become more and more popular in America is the reading of the book “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement Clark Moore, or similar books about Santa Claus. Other families prefer to watch videos or television to reading. Popular titles are: How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas or Frosty the Snowman. Singing Santa Claus songs like Here Comes Santa Claus, Up on the Housetop, or Santa Claus is Coming to Town are also very popular.

Just before they nod off to bed, children around the world put their stockings on mantels (i.e.: In hopes that St. Nick will soon be here). They anticipate them being filled by Santa Claus with all kinds of goodies…ready for consumption the next morning. They will take a quick look up the chimney to make sure nobody has arrived yet, and take a quick glance out the window to see any movement in the sky, and sometimes even leave the front door unlocked (i.e.: In case Santa has problems with the chimney).

Parents have their part to play in Christmas Eve as well. There are a lot of gifts that need to be placed under the tree, and they will often be signed “From Santa” or “Love Santa”.

Christmas Eve is a busy time of year, but a very magical time as well. We hope you enjoyed this little tour of the various traditions. In future articles we will be exploring other Christmas traditions…so stay tuned…

With the market of travel insurance being so competitive and the costs regularly reviewed and improved, what has always been a necessity when travelling can now be viewed in a pleasant light and no longer considered as a burden for the average traveler and holiday-maker. If you can’t afford travel insurance then you can’t afford to travel and besides, it is far more liberating to know that, just in case you’re out of luck, most traumatic events while travelling can be remedied or assisted by the cover you purchase before you leave. This far outweighs the disappointment of wishing you had spent a little extra on travel insurance.

Even more important than getting travel insurance is ensuring that you purchase a suitable policy and you understand exactly what is and isn’t covered therein. Do not hesitate to voice any queries and always read your policy wording carefully before purchasing your travel insurance. You will find countless reviews online sent in by holiday makers who have lost money because they either didn’t have insurance in the first place or neglected to familiarise themselves with the fine print on their policy meaning they thought they were covered in certain situations when in fact they weren’t.

Here are a few examples of mistakes that might render you unworthy of a claim: having a different name on your travel documents to those on your passport (for example if you still have your passport in your maiden name and have booked your flight in your married name); not getting a police report to back up your claim; injury incurred while under the influence of alcohol and leaving baggage unattended in a case of theft.

Something that’s even more important than getting travel insurance is making sure that you purchase the correct policy and you understand exactly what is and is not covered in your policy. Do not hesitate to voice any queries and always read your policy wording carefully before purchasing your travel insurance. You will find countless reviews online sent in by holiday makers who have lost money because they either didn’t have insurance to start with or neglected to familiarise themselves with the fine print on their policy meaning they thought they were covered in certain situations when in fact they were not.

Travel Insurance today is affordable and reassuring but the traveler must take time to understand what they have purchased. The potential risks encountered when travelling or leaving home for a length of time with only a few bags to hold your previous belongings can be daunting especially when you are surrounded by strangers who do not speak your language! Always consider buying travel insurance for your travels, whether international or domestic.

If you’re about to buy your cheap travel insurance online, check out our competitive and reliable travel insurance packages.

A certain day in February every year is celebrated. This celebration remembers the gift of love which gives meaning to the existence of all. This special day is every February 14. As everyone knows, this is a celebration worthy of wines, roses and Valentine’s Day sweets. During this day, lovers once again have a reason to be with each other. If throughout the year they were estranged and stale to each other, now they will be close again.

The adage says that familiarity breeds contempt. Lovers get affected by this greatly. In the beginning they are so in love and close with each other. But after a long period of time of being together, each starts to realize flaws and imperfections. Because of this, dislike and disapproval starts to happen. They lose that love and attraction because of this.

Valentine’s Day then becomes another chance for lovers to rekindle their love. The purpose of this day is to allow them to forget about what they do not like with each other. Instead they should accept each other for what they are. As for the infamous Valentine’s Day sweets, Valentine’s Day will become sweet again. These Valentine’s Day sweets can make it possible through their various uses and of course, various rich and sweet collections of every sweet possible.

For the long and stale time that lovers have been with each other, select and delectable sweets will help flavor their worlds once again. For a start, in the morning of Valentine’s Day, they can surprise their partners with Valentine’s Day sweets. This is without a doubt a very great way to start the sweetness of the day. With heaps of choices of candies, chocolates, lollipops and more, lovers will definitely bring back that spark in an instant.

Valentine’s Day sweets, with its collection of different flavors and colors, will cast a smile once again on lovers’ faces. These sweets bring back happy memories thus lovers can look back and realize where their relationship stands now. They can make these sweets as desserts for their lovely meal as well.

Perhaps, they can also turn these sweets as romantic gifts to each other. They can go and share time with each other outdoors. And with their Valentine’s Day sweets, they can just sit there in the open, holding each other under starry skies while cherishing each moment they have with each other.

A mini-get away to a city in Europe is now a very in thing to do. Doing this must prove to be financially sound. To truly uncover a mix of two worlds Barcelona city breaks may offer the most of what you are looking for.

Inexpensive travel is easier than ever. In an age when the economy refuses to let anything be simple, finding the right deal to enhance your life can make all the difference in the world. The number of websites offering coupons for travel are astronomical. With little effort you could find a package on airfare and dining that saves you a lot of money.

Once a run down ruin left over from the industrial revolution, Barcelona is now a bustling modern port city. More than that it is thought to be one of the most beautiful to visit. Old buildings from times long ago sitting comfortably next to steel and glass constructed works of architectural genius is not something that you can find just anywhere. After seeing the ages come and go, Barcelona stands to see another one.

The Olympic games and events more than twenty years ago brought much to this city. The spirit of the games still lingers in Barcelona. This multi-national match arrived with more than just sports for Spain. They also brought companies, investors, and artists. Football is exceeding popular in Barcelona. The experience of going to a match is something no visitor should skip.

Barcelona is also known as quite the party city. The nightlife there is second to none, with something for everyone, regardless of age or personal preferences.

Along one side of this port city are Mediterranean beaches. The other sides boarding the city offer hills to make a beautiful backdrop. Barcelona city breaks are full of activity and can provide much needed relief from routine daily life.

Go to our site today at http://www.travelsoon.com/barcelona-city-breaks.html to book the best quality barcelona city breaks at the right price

Jewelry is often made from gold, silver, diamonds, emeralds, rubies, etc., but by adding the “heart shape” into the mix we add the concepts of love, romance, caring and belonging as well. In this article we will explore the world of heart jewelry, the “heart shape” as a symbol, and take a peak at the world’s most famous heart-shaped diamond.

The “heart symbol” has been around for years, used to refer to the spiritual, emotional, moral, and intellectual core of humans. It’s often depicted as “red” as this symbolizes blood (as it is the heart that pumps blood through the body) and strong emotions…and what emotion can possibly be stronger than that of true love?

Finding a true heart-shaped diamond is a rare event, but they do exist. For example, the most rare and famous of these is the “Blue Heart” (also called the Eugenie Blue) diamond. Many people consider it to be the best example of a blue diamond that the world has ever seen. The only diamond that can rival its fame is perhaps the Hope Diamond, but with the unique heart shape of the “Blue Heart”, it really stands out in the crowd. From the standpoint of pure elegance and simplicity, there are few diamonds that can hold a candle to the “Blue Heart”.

The “Blue Heart” is a 30.82 metric carat diamond. It is thought to be of either African or Indian origin. The original rough diamond was cut by Antanik Ekyanan of Neuilly, Paris in either 1909 or 1910. It’s current dimensions are: 20mm x 19mm x 12mm.

In 1910 Cartier purchased this diamond from an Argentinean woman named Mrs. Unzue. Mrs. Unzue had the diamond set into a corsage. It was in this corsage when the diamond was purchased by Van Cleef and Arpels in 1953.

Next stop…an European family. They then sold this heart jewelry gem to a gentleman named Harry Winston in 1959. He put the diamond into a ring, and then sold it to Marjorie Merriweather Post, who eventually donated it to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. This wonderful example of heart jewelry is currently on display at this institution today. Want a bit of trivia? At one point the “Blue Heart” Diamond, the Hope Diamond, and the Heart of Eternity were all on display at the Smithsonian.

Spending time together as a family creating wonderfully fun Christmas ornaments is a great way to make memories with your little ones and decorate the house, tree, and wreath at the same time! Try a couple simple projects like these to start the fun!

Candy Cane Reindeer: Get ready to make a whole bunch of these. Once you start you won’t want to stop. You’ll need some candy canes, of course, and some small googly eyes and red pompoms. You’ll also need some brown pipe cleaners, pretty gift ribbon, and a tiny bell.

Take the pipe cleaner and wrap it around the hook of the candy cane forming a V. Then bend the V into several angles to look like reindeer antlers. Glue the eyes on, then the pompom nose. Tie the ribbon on to form the hanger and string the ribbon through the bell for more decoration. Hang the reindeer from your tree or wreath for a pretty and fun decoration.

Noodles Wreath: Noodles, or pasta, is a great material to work with. It’s inexpensive and paints up very well. You’ll need some noodles of various shapes and sizes, some sturdy paper plates, some craft glue, poster paint or craft spray paint, and ribbon or other embellishments to decorate the wreath.

Assemble by first cutting a hole out of the middle of the paper plate so you end up with a wreath form. Pick out your pasta and start gluing it all over the wreath form. Try to cover as much of the surface as possible, even overlapping the pasta if you can. Then paint with whatever you have chosen and let the paint dry. Then glue on the ribbon and other embellishments to make your wreath pretty. Keep making them! You’ll want in each room!

Cinnamon Cookie Ornaments: These ornaments are very old fashioned and smell wonderful. Gather your supplies first. You’ll need a big mixing bowl, cookie sheet, cookie cutters in shapes that you like, a straw or toothpick for poking a hole in the ornament for hanging, and some pretty thin ribbon. The ingredients are: 1 cup of ground cinnamon, 4 tablespoons of white glue, and 3/4 to 1 cup of water.

Put the cinnamon and glue in a bowl and start pouring the water in a little at a time. Mix and keep adding water until you get a dough similar to sugar cookies. Put the dough in the refrigerator for about 2 hours. Take out a cutting board and sprinkle cinnamon on it, then place the dough on top and knead it until the dough is smooth. Roll the dough out like cookie dough, about 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle a little more cinnamon on the cutting board if the dough sticks. Use your cookie cutter to cut out shapes you want, poking a hole in the top of each one for a hanger. Place the shapes on your cookie sheet and bake in a warm oven for 2 hours. Remove and cool, then tie the ribbon through for hanging. Hang from your tree, wreath, or give them as gifts.

It’s surprising how easy it is to find great Christmas ornament crafts to make with your little ones. The holiday season can seem very long sometimes and kids need lots of projects to keep busy. Cute little homemade ornaments are a perfect way to keep those little ones happy and to create warm, wonderful memories of time spent together with family this holiday season.

When considering a Tenerife cheap hotel, understand that this Spanish-held island is very popular as a vacation destination for many people traveling from Europe and elsewhere. Given the downturn in the economy around the world, more people than ever before are looking for an inexpensive hotel room as they make their way to this very beautiful island that offers an endless variety of recreational activities.

Tenerife as an island belongs to Spain and it is one of seven in what is called the Canary Islands. Sitting in the Atlantic Ocean just off of Africa, it is well-regarded throughout Europe and other regions because of the beautiful vacation atmosphere it exhibits. There are a great many beaches and resorts from which to choose, and the population of 900,000 swells greatly during holiday season.

The simplest way to choose a room is to check for the pricing online. Web sites will often have the most current pricing and deals to be had. This can be especially useful if you are planning a trip two or three weeks before you plan on going. Occasionally, they will also have last minute deals if the hotel is not filled up.

In truth, it isn’t that hard to find Tenerife cheap hotel accommodations if one is willing to spend a little effort on it and has a bit of patience. When one stops to consider that, today, more than 375 hotels of all types exist on the island — not including apartments that are rented out by their owners — it shouldn’t be hard to craft a nice vacation with a budget hotel accommodation package.

Always start with a thorough search of the Internet for rooms on this Spanish island before anything else. Just enter in a phrase related to the island and “cheap hotel” and be prepared for a wide variety of offerings to be displayed. Certainly, there’ll be a lot of results, though as long as one focuses on the budget or basic accommodations there should be little problem becoming confused.

Usually, the most basic of Tenerife cheap hotel offerings run somewhere around $100 and can go up or down from there. If it’s really important to go with something low-cost, it might be a good idea to look at pairing up or working with certain apartment owners who rent their apartments out. Still, even the most basic rooms are usually located near to one of the nice beaches or resort areas.
