Scholarships to pursue higher education overseas have become easily accessible to estimable students. But scholarships only provide for expenses incurred for education and college/university. This insurance policy conditionally defrays all medical expenditures that a student might incur while studying overseas. A student is entitled to financial benefits only if his condition doesn?t violate some overriding exclusionary clauses. A Pre-existing condition, is one which required medical attention in the look back period, which could vary from 6-24 months before the stipulated coverage begins. Pre-existing conditions are not excluded from coverage.

The policy covers Pre-existing medical conditions, provided the company is furnished with contextual medical details. A Pre-existing condition means a condition requiring medical attention in the look back period. This usually ranges from 6-24 months before the official insurance coverage tenure commences. Expenses incurred in medication/ treatment while in one?s native country is not covered by the student insurance policy.

The Insurance policy judges the urgency and necessity of the nature of treatment undertaken. So, it does not extend insurance cover to defray expenses incurred in cosmetic surgeries (of non-corrective natures). Free treatments are also not covered by the insurance for international student policy.

Injuries received due to conscious violation of legal and political rights are also not covered by international student insurance. So, the insurance policy would not pay for any instance that is deemed willful injury. Injuries sustained in war, while pursuing criminal or terrorist activities are not offered financial insurance cover. The policy also does not extend its medical benefits if the injury/ illness are treated in the student?s native country.

The insurance policy does not extend its financial cover to treat students who were injured while consciously violating the law. Injuries sustained in military or civil strife, or while pursuing activities detrimental to the state are not extended financial benefits by the policy. Injuries incurred in conscious violation of curfew or police prohibition orders are not granted financial cover for treatment.

Any treatment in the nature of alternative/ traditional/ experimental medication is denied insurance cover benefits. This exclusionary clause also repudiates sensory therapeutic treatment like aromatherapy and music therapy. Self treatments, consultations with quacks and random over-the-counter medications are not covered as well.

The insurance cover does not apply to injuries sustained while pursuing high risk activities like adventure sports. Students who wish to engage in sports in hazardous environments are required to choose additional insurance policy coverage. These, effectively are some of the primary clauses that repudiate the International student medical insurance.
