Postal code and route mapping in Canada is a little different from that of the States. In fact, they are undergoing a change in the way they handle their street addresses. One example of this, is in the Burlington area. Most of this area is a part of Rural Route #2 Milton, and Rural Route #6 Milton, and then still Rural Route #3 Campbellville for their mail delivery.

But, while this is true, these areas all still have an address that is a Burlington street address. This fact has caused many to suffer having their mail incorrectly reflect them living in the wrong location. It has made delivery very difficult and confusing. It has also been the cause of loss of access to emergency services. So they decided to change the postal identifier to Burlington so the rural areas will get the same type of mail delivery as everyone else in Burlington.

They began the process of fixing this problem in 2005. Local counselors and Parliament members met with people from the Canada Post and work on a solution to this confusing problem. The Oakland Raiders scored the only touchdown of the game in the first quarter and then prevailed in the kicking duel that followed en route to a–9 upset of the visiting Philadelphia Eagles. Much maligned quarterback Jamarcus Russell played his best game of the season despite two interceptions, throwing for 224 yards and a touchdown. It was only the Raiders’ second win of the season, and only the Eagles’ second loss. Oakland now stands at 2-4 while Philadelphia slid to 3-2.

NFL betting enthusiasts who backed the Raiders as a whopping +14 home underdog were never in any trouble as Oakland took the lead late in the first quarter and never relinquished it. Oakland evened their mark against the NFL pointspread at 3-3, while the Eagles dropped to 3-2 against the number. The 22 points scored went well UNDER the posted total of 40′. It was the Raiders’ fourth UNDER in six outings, while it was the Eagles’ first UNDER of the season against four OVER verdicts.

I recently had the honor of embarking on that very American of rituals: the road trip — specifically, a cross-country trip. While a journey from my native London to Glasgow takes approximately a day, to travel from one end of the United States (my adopted home) to the other requires at least a week to accomplish in style. While my first inclination, when approached about enduring a road trip, was to reserve a train ticket. After all, what better way to drink in the rough-hewn beauty of these great states than from the window of a train?

My companion, Jack, who happens to be Robert Taylor’s reincarnated doppelganger, quickly rubbished any plans of a train voyage and reserved a rental car. He reserved a four-door sedan — a 2008 Ford Taurus to be exact. We could each bring one carry on bag, a miniature cooler filled with perishable goods, and our cellphones (for navigating and emergency purposes).

A successful road trip is predicated on the mastery of sustaining a conversation while embracing silence. Talking too much makes one a boor, while not talking enough makes one a shrinking violet. Likewise, you must be able to gauge the relative fatigue of the person at the wheel. He may say he is bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, but that may only be a consequence of having enjoyed a hardy round of conversation.  Read more...

While passport documentation is required for the crossing of all borders now, an actual passport is not actually needed. When heading to places such as Mexico and Canada or some cruises, an expedited pass port card will more than do the trick. Anyone thinking that they are short on time and that the trip is at risk can rest easy because there is a solution.

The card allows for frequent land and sea border crossings in to the above mentioned countries. This means there is no longer the need to apply for addition pages for a passport when travel takes you over the border very frequently. This can be an ideal alternative for those business travelers that may go to Canada or Mexico on a very regular basis.

Applying for a passport card is much the same process as applying for a standard passport. Actually, all of the same forms are going to be used. The entire process can be handled at a regional office or a local post office that handles passport processing. Had things happened differently, Nick Diaz would forever be part of MMA history. Regardless of how his career transpired after February, 2007 he should have been remembered as part of one of the greatest fights ever. His PRIDE 33 matchup against Takanori Gomi should have created a legacy like the first Forrest Griffin/Stephan Bonnar bout, only it was better. It was a mixed martial arts version of Gatti/Ward or Castillo/Corrales 1. It should have been the biggest victory of Diaz’s career and the centerpiece of his highlight reel.

On April 10th, the Nevada Athletic Commission announced that he’d failed a drug test. The Nevada Athletic Commission considers a THC level over 50 a positive result for marijuana usage. Nick Diaz’s THC level was an astounding 175 and that led NSAC Chairman Dr. Tony Alamo to speculate that in this situation marijuana was a performance enhancing drug. The rationale was that during the fight Diaz was feeling no pain”literally. Diaz was fined, suspended and the result of the fight against Gomi changed to a no decision.  Read more...

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira left a lot of questions unanswered in the wake of his UFC 92 loss to Frank Mir. After the fight it was revealed that hed suffered from a staph infection during training, severe enough to land him in the hospital for five days. He insisted that the loss was entirely attributable to his illness. At UFC 102 from the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon, Big Nog made a compelling case that his loss to Mir was a definite aberration. Nogueira dominated a determined Randy Couture over three rounds, en route to a unanimous decision victory over the UFC Hall of Famer.

Nogueira entered the arena first to his usual entrance music of Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones. Couture lived in suburban Gresham, Oregon for a number of years and trained at Team Quest before leaving to start Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas. Hes still a beloved figure in the Portland area, and his wide grin during Bruce Buffers introductions give the impression that he still has a lot of affection for his former hometown.  Read more...

Here are some of the things that I had learned whilst doing a gay Grand Canyon rafting trip. There is very knowledgeable staff that toured us down the river, but by some of the pictures and tid-bits I read a lot while staying for three days. The Canyon was formed by the Colorado River. It took nearly 17 million years to get the shape it has today.

With the steep cliffs that the water and wind had eroded away. It was one of the first national parks in the United States and was dedicated as such by Theodore Roosevelt on Nov. 28, 1906. Although the river is 286 miles long, ranging in width from 4 to 18 miles and is as deep as a mile, it is not the longest river in the world. Nor is it the widest.

Kali Gandaki in Nepal is deeper, while Capertu Valley in Australia is about 1 km. Longer. Nearly 5 million people go to visit the canyon per year which is why they now have enforced a law that requires anyone who has traveled down the river within a single year may only do it once. If you wish to go again, the traveler must wait an entire year before going again.  Read more...

France is one of the best countries in Europe, if not the world, to come on a skiing holiday. France has more than 40 fully equipped ski resorts, some of which are working all year round.

Geography of France reveals six mountain ranges where skiing holiday can be chosen on. These ski resorts are detached and can be seen on the Alps, the Jura, the Vosges, the Massif Central and the Corsica.

Weather conditions play all-important role in deciding about which skiing resort to spend the holiday in. Of course, one’s own choice of picking out the skiing resort to suit the varying skiing season in France is evident since snow conditions in vary in these resorts.

January and February are the two months best suited for skiing in France. February attracts even more skiing enthusiasts for in France school holidays fall in that month and so the ski resorts fill up to brim.

Skiing season in France extends generally between December and March or April taking into consideration the altitudes of the ski resorts you decide to take a vacation at. Snow stays better in accordance with the altitude of the ski resort.  Read more...

Duke University is far from being a national college football powerhouse, but they’re no longer a team you can take lightly either. #6 ranked Virginia Tech found that out on Saturday, and what they expected to be an easy afternoon became a tightly contested affair. Ultimately, the Hokies would survive for a 34-26 road victory. Virginia Tech improved their record to 4-1, while Duke dropped to 2-3 on the 2009 college football season.

Despite the straight up loss, Duke won where it counted as they rewarded sports players who bet on college football with the ATS victory as +17 home underdogs. Duke evened their mark at 2-2 in their lined games, while the Hokies dropped to 2-3 against the spread. The 60 combined points scored went well OVER the posted total of 48.

The Hokies were saved by the career day posted by their quarterback, Tyrod Taylor. Taylor threw for 327 yards on 17 of 22 passing and two touchdown passes. After the game, Taylor modestly downplayed his own impact on the outcome of the game:
