One of the cruel ironies of human existence is that bountiful gifts are often given to those who cannot handle them. Beauty and money come immediately to mind, but talent in a particular discipline is often bestowed upon those who cannot maximize it to its greatest potential. Still others are unwittingly destroyed by some trait or characteristic that makes them exceptional. That’s what makes an athlete like Michael Jordan so exceptional-seldom are awesome talent, desire, discipline and dedication found in the same package in such prodigious abundance. The mass of humanity often reaps the benefits of their talents despite their external flaws. Such was the case with poker great Stu Ungar, who was found dead in his room at the Oasis Motel in Las Vegas on November 22,’98.

In the aftermath of Brock Lesnars 2nd round TKO victory over Frank Mir the prevailing attitude toward him from mainstream fans has experienced a sudden and seismic shift. Before his past two fights many were questioning whether his credentials justified giving him a shot at the title, with some even unfairly comparing him to EliteXC YouTube sideshow attraction Kimbo Slice. In the aftermath of Lesnars UFC 100 victory the new question surrounding the former WWE champion has become who can beat this guy? Lesnar definitely is a freaky physical specimen combining size and strength with speed and agility. Hes also progressing by leaps and bounds as a fighter with every bout. Still, hes got a big deficit in experience to make up on the job as UFC heavyweight champion.

Lesnar is no doubt a tough matchup, but he’s been the beneficiary of very favorable matchups in his short professional career. Lesnar has made amazing progress as a fighter, but he’s not unbeatable. Here’s fight fighters who could do it.

Choosing the best retirement state involves many factors. Be careful if you base your choice on one criteria.

Five states do not have sales tax, seven states do not tax income. One state has neither tax…that is Alaska. If warm weather is a deciding factor you may not care about Alaskan taxes…or lack thereof.

The cost of living in Alaska is high. Why?…almost every consumer good is trucked in from the lower forty eight states. No sales or income tax…great but it does give you the total picture in choosing a place to retire.

If you do have a high retirement income you should look at Texas or Florida…all else being equal. Lots of wealthy retirees in those two states.

If Social Security is your sole source of income you may be interested in finding out which states tax SS income. There are thirty four states that do not tax Social Security benefits.

There are other factors to consider when choosing the best place to retire, such as:

1) Medical care…is it adequate?

2) Is the family close…or is it far enough away?

3) Cultural activities

4) Are there venues for your outdoor activities?

Located on the northwest coast of Florida is a place that boasts relaxing vacations, beautiful scenery, and nice accommodations. This part of Florida is often referred to as the Emerald Coast and is home to some best lodging on the Gulf Coast found in Fort Walton Beach condos.

Close to Eglin Air Force Base, there are many activities for vacationing pleasure. Charter Fishing out in the gulf, just laying on the beach, golf, swimming in the gulf, visiting the air armament museum, bike rentals, water park, bowling and restaurants. Oh, the food is marvelous. Destin is nearby and so is Okaloosa Island. Just imagine the beautiful sunny days relaxing on the soft white sand and the warm Florida evenings cooled by a gentle breeze from the Gulf of Mexico. It’s paradise on earth.

The beaches are groomed daily where there are a lot of people, and they are pristine clean. The sand is made from appalachian quartz and is the softest, most beautiful and best feeling sand in the world. In fact, it can be hard to get away from the beach and enjoy the other activities available in and around Fort Walton Beach.

The Washington Redskins are a mess right now. Head coach Jim Zorn has a tenuous hold on his job at best and after Sunday’s—6 loss to Kansas City was stripped of his offensive play calling duties. Management installed newly hired ‘offensive consultant’ Sherman Lewis as the new offensive play caller and the team has set up an awkward arrangement for him to get the plays to the quarterbacks. For that reason, starting QB Jason Campbell has some serious misgivings about the efficacy of the setup.

Lewis has only been out of retirement and with the team for two weeks, and has spent this week trying to ingest a crash course on the Redskins’ offensive schemes. While he was learning on the job, head coach Zorn was trying to put the best spin possible on what can only be seen as a de facto demotion:

“I need to have composure. I need to understand what the reality of the situation is, and I think our players expect me to rise up. We expect them to play under adverse conditions. We expect them to risk it all. … I’m conscious of what’s going on. I’m not naive about what’s going on, and yet I have to just hold back on any feelings and make the decisions.”

Buyer Beware – Using Power Factor Correction and Transient Voltage Surge Suppression to Reduce Energy Costs.

Today’s energy conscious climate has motivated many to do what they can to become more efficient and conserve energy and money. Unfortunately this same climate has prompted others to take advantage of unsuspecting consumers’ wishes to save energy and reduce expenses.

Companies that tout power factor improvement (kVAR correction) and transient voltage suppression are a good example of this bad trend. Lately we are seeing more and more of these companies cropping up and feel it is time to set the record straight.

First, transient voltage surge suppression (TVSS) plays a valuable role in improving power quality to protect sensitive equipment inside a facility. However, TVSS does not save energy. TVSS’s are only active a tiny fraction of a second to protect against voltage surges which only last for less than a millisecond. To actually reduce energy consumption the TVSS would need to actually cut power consumption for an extended period of time which is not what they are designed to do. Again, TVSS is important to protect sensitive electrical equipment but buyers should avoid vendors promising, or even guaranteeing, that they will reduce energy consumption.

One of three important towns located in Tynedale is Hexham in Northumberland. Hexham is located just south of the Tyne River and is a historic market town. One of the first recordings of Hexham is from 674 when the Abbey was built. The crypts form this Abbey was most likely built from stones out of Hadrian’s Wall and other Roman buildings. This original crypt is still standing though the current abbey was constructed in the 1800s.

Hexham is very close to the Scottish border and figured prominently in the border wars. The town was actually burnt to the ground by William Wallace. The Duke of Somerset was famously executed in the marketplace and there was a Battle of Hexham in 1464. The Queen’s Cave is outside of Hexham and there is a legend around this cave as supposedly Queen Margaret of Anjou was robbed when taking refuge here.

Moot Hall is a famous building in town as this was once a gatehouse and is listed as a Grade 1 building. Today the Hall is home to the Museums department and the Council offices. The ground floor holds an art gallery. Behind the Hall is the Old Goal and is a monument. Today is houses a museum with information about the goal as well as local notable families.

When you’re staying away home for any length of time it is extremely important that you are feeling totally comfortable and at ease. Ideally you need a ‘home away from home’, an area where you’ll relax and move around without restrictions and not be at the whim of restrictive hotel meal times and other services.

When you’re trying for a serviced apartment or temporary accommodation it could be a smart plan to consider listing things that you would want or need in order to make your stay as comfy as possible. Here are some things you would possibly wish to keep in mind when you’re searching for your apartment.

Building Facilities

Depending on the building, you would possibly want to check that they have elevators (you don’t want to be carrying baggage or groceries up 4 flights of stairs!) or maybe a concierge or door service. You might also want to check whether there’s a gym, launderette facilities or perhaps a garden for recreational use. Often overlooked is the necessity for parking. If you’re bringing or renting a car, you’ll want to make sure it’s parked as securely as possible. You would possibly be happy to street park if it is a quiet neighbourhood but maybe you should think about somewhere with secure, monitored automotive parking facilities. This stuff might appear small (or some even luxurious) however they can facilitate that you get most of your stay and avoid possible problems.
